FAQs

Are trainings in-person or virtual?

DVI’s first and last class are in-person at DAWN’s downtown Kent location. All other classes are virtual.

Who is the DVI training for?

The DVI is designed for advocates, allied professionals, volunteers, and community members who want to learn how to support survivors of domestic violence. No prior experience is required.

Is this private or customized training?

The DVI is offered in scheduled cohorts open to the public — it is not a personalized session for individual survivors. Survivors are welcome to register for any scheduled cohort. Organizations interested in customized training for their team should review our Training Menu and contact us directly.

Does this training meet WAC requirements?

Yes. The 24-hour DVI certification meets the initial training requirements under WAC 388-61A-1080 for staff providing supportive services to survivors of domestic violence.

What happens if I miss a session?

Participants must complete a minimum of 20 hours to receive a certificate of completion. If you miss a session, materials are available for self-study. Missing two or more sessions may require completing a future cohort at no additional cost.
