What Is Purple Light Nights®?

Purple Light Nights® campaign is a global effort created by the Covington Domestic Violence Task Force to raise awareness of domestic violence. By shining purple lights during Domestic Violence Awareness Month every October, participants remember those who have lost their lives to domestic abuse, and inspire hope for those still experiencing domestic abuse.

Thanks to Renton, Kent and Puyallup Police Departments, Renton and Kent Parks Departments, Renton and Kent Chambers of Commerce, Renton and Kent Downtown Partnerships, and Tarragon Properties Kent Station and Sunrise Village for partnering with DAWN to make these events possible.

Purple—the symbolic color of domestic violence—represents courage, survival, and hope. Lighting homes, businesses, and public spaces in purple sends a powerful message: domestic violence has no place in our communities.
