Children’s DV Response Team

Supporting children and non-abusive parents with compassion

9

DAWN’s Children’s Domestic Violence Response Team (CDVRT) is a specialized program to help non-abusive parents and children who are impacted by domestic violence. This voluntary program utilizes a team model to offer integrated advocacy and mental health services to meet the needs of children and non-abusive parents in a compassionate wrap-around type of service. The team provides services based on each family’s strengths, needs, and priorities.

Domestic Violence Advocates and Children’s Advocates provide expert safety planning strategies, referrals to community resources, and resiliency-based services designed to help children and referring parents recover from trauma; and live safely and free from emotional or physical harm.

The CDVRT is a unique, collaborative team approach, designed to provide safe and effective services for children and non-abusive parents. It is NOT our role to determine whether or not domestic violence has occurred or to determine the facts of any case. Any threats or safety concerns will be documented and reported to the appropriate parties. Our focus is always on the child’s best interests—emotional and physical protection for the referring parent and child is a priority. Consequently, the CDVRT does not work directly with the non-referring parent.
