In July, one of our clients came to DAWN in urgent need of rental assistance to avoid losing their safe and stable housing. Because of our partnership with Interim CDAโand because of the generosity of this communityโthey received three months of rental support totaling $3,418.04. That support prevented homelessness and kept a survivor safe during a critical time. ๐ This is the power of community. ๐ This is the impact of every gift. Thank you for making safety and stability possible for survivors and their families. #DAWNRising #DVAM #CommunityStrong #EndDV

Katie joined DAWNโs Board because she believes in creating a community where survivors are empowered and safe. With 20+ years in the multifamily industry, she uses her operational expertise to help DAWN build supportive spaces for those who need them most. But her biggest role? Mom. Sheโs raising three amazing kids โ Jaxson (11), Kane (8), and Remi (4) โ and is motivated every day to help create a world worthy of them. Sheโs also a proud dog mom to MoMo and Biggie, loves reading, and cherishes time laughing with friends. Her message to survivors is full of compassion and hope: ๐ฌ โYour strength is immense, even if you don't feel it right now. You are not alone, and there is a path forward.โ Weโre grateful for Katieโs leadership, her heart, and her commitment to DAWNโs mission. ๐ ๐ Tag a mom who inspires you. #DAWNStrong #DAWNBoard #SupportSurvivors #PurpleLightNights
๐ A message to our community: With gratitude in our hearts, we want to share an important step forward. DAWNโs Board and Leadership have decided to sell our Gowe Street office building. This choice isnโt about leavingโitโs about growing. And itโs possible because of you. Youโve shown us that survivors deserve more privacy and safety than our current office can provide. Youโve reminded us that stability matters, and so proceeds from this sale will be invested to sustain DAWNโs services long into the future. Youโve trusted us to steward resources wisely, and this move frees up more funding to go directly where itโs needed most: survivors. What will not change is DAWNโs deep roots in South King County. Our confidential shelter remains here in Kent. Our partnerships with this community remain strong. And your steady support continues to fill our hearts with gratitude. As DAWN approaches 50 years of service, we are building not just for today but for decades to come. Thank you for walking with us into this new chapter. #DAWNRising #CommunityImpact #DVAM #Leadership #NonprofitSustainability
What does community look like? Sometimes it looks like a Saturday morning, a stack of plywood, and a group of neighbors with rollers and purple paint. On September 17, volunteers joined us at DAWNโs Gowe HQ to bring to life 22 โSilent Witnessโ silhouettes. Each figure represents a survivor of domestic violenceโand each will stand at our Purple Light Nights events this fall as a visible reminder of both loss and hope. We want to thank the Kent Rotary members and community members for giving their time and for showing up with such heart. ๐ Purple Light Nights began right here in Covington in 2007 and now spans more than 30 states and abroad. This year, you can be part of it: TONIGHT! Sept. 25 โ Kent Reception + Walk Sept. 27 โ Covington Walk + Tree Lighting Oct. 6 โ Renton Walk + Proclamation Your presence matters. Come walk beside us, see the silhouettes, and help shine light where thereโs too often silence. ๐ Learn more and RSVP: https://dawnrising.org/events/ #PurpleLightNights #DVAM #CommunityStrong #DAWNRising

When we say community-powered, this is what we mean. ๐ Weโre sending a huge shoutout to the volunteers from the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters (WSRCC) who donated their time and tools to help create the powerful silhouette displays featured in this yearโs Purple Light Nights events. These silhouettes stand as symbols of lives lost, stories heard, and a shared commitment to ending domestic violence. ๐ See them unveiled at the Purple Light Nights Kickoff Reception + Walk on Sept. 25. ๐ RSVP for the Reception (only a few spots left): https://bit.ly/purplelightnightreception ๐ RSVP for the Walk: https://bit.ly/awalkinhersteps #WSRCC #PurpleLightNights #DVAM #CommunitySupport #VolunteerAppreciation #MenAgainstViolence #DawnRising #EndDV
