#GivingTuesday
This GivingTuesday,DAWN will inspire radical generosity by engaging with our community to help shelter over 100 women and children who are survivors of domestic violence in 2026.
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off giving season this year by inspiring people to give back on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, December 2, 2025, and throughout the year.
DAWN – Domestic Abuse Women’s Network – with support from “DAWN’s Angels” and community partners, is inviting the community to celebrate radical generosity in the following ways:
- Brighten a survivor’s holidays. Bring a new, unwrapped holiday toy for a child survivor, or new unwrapped gift for a parent survivor or single woman to DAWN between 11 AM and 2 PM on December 2nd (or before). Gifts will be organized by DAWN volunteers and team members in DAWN’s “Winter Marketplace,” where registered DAWN clients will shop for their winter and holiday needs on December 10.
- Invest your time for change. Sign up to be a DAWN Volunteer at dawnrising.org/volunteer. Whether organizing Marketplace, representing DAWN in the community, helping at DAWN’s May It Forward fundraiser on May 2, 2026, at a Purple Light Nights ® event in September or October, serving on the DAWN Board of Directors, or hosting a fundraiser in your home during the holidays, DAWN volunteers make a big impact by supporting DAWN with their time.
- Dine for impact. Enjoy delicious meals on December 2nd at Mama Stortini’s in Kent Station, which is generously donating ten percent of sales on Giving Tuesday to support DAWN’s programs helping survivors of domestic violence to find safety.
- Shop and support survivors. Join DAWN team members on December 2nd from 4-7 PM tor a Survivor Art Show/Silent Auction at Mama Stortini’s. Learn more about DAWN’s work, meet DAWN’s Executive Director Gina Finley, and bid on survivor art and gifts for yourself or special people in your life while supporting survivors.
- Double your donation. Make a #GivingTuesday gift on December 2nd to DAWN at dawnrising.org. Gifts will be doubled by “DAWN’s Angels” who have contributed to a #GivingTuesday Matching Fund that will match each gift of $100 or more, until the challenge fund is completely used.
- Make it a win for all. One lucky donor who makes a #GivingTuesday gift to DAWN will win a gift certificate for dinner for two valued at $250 sponsored by Duke’s Restaurants.
“This month about 500 people will call DAWN for help and information because they are facing challenges and violence in their intimate relationships,” stated Christine Rose, Development Director at DAWN. “If it weren’t for the generosity of our community, DAWN wouldn’t be able to help them with advocacy, support and shelter. DAWN friends and supporters make a tremendous contribution to save lives and help survivors create positive, thriving futures for themselves and their children.”
#GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: To create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past thirteen years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
One in four women and one in seven men have experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner. Since1980 DAWN stands with all survivors of domestic abuse, helps them rebuild their lives, and strives to make our communities safer by preventing and addressing violence through education and advocacy. DAWN is a 50lc3 charitable organization, Tax ID# 91-1176122. For more information or to register for events, visit www.dawnrising.org.
