The people who support survivors deserve to feel supported, too. 💜 In DAWN’s 2026 Employee Engagement Survey conducted by 501 Commons, 95% of all responses were favorable, with 100% staff participation. Every team member said they enjoy being part of DAWN and are proud to work here. The survey also reflected strong results in teamwork, supervisor support, communication, diversity, equity and inclusion, and work-life balance. We’re proud of what these results say about our team, while knowing that a healthy culture is something we continue building together every day. Thank you to every DAWN staff member for the care, trust, and commitment you bring to this work. #DAWN #TeamDAWN #NonprofitCulture #SupportSurvivors #EmployeeEngagement

A big thank you to Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) Pacific Northwest Chapter, for spending time with DAWN during a recent work party. 💜 Their team spruced up DAWN’s shelter with pressure washing, deep cleaning cabinets, and organizing spaces that support survivors and families. These projects may happen behind the scenes, but they make a real difference. A clean, cared-for space helps create a safer, more welcoming environment for survivors and their children. We’re grateful for community partners who show up with willing hands and generous hearts. #DAWN #CommunitySupport #VolunteerAppreciation #SupportSurvivors #DomesticViolenceAwareness #IICF #IICFPNW

When “Nadia” arrived at DAWN’s shelter, she came with the support of her mother and carried what mattered most: her six-month-old baby and her cat. She was exhausted from the constant rhythm of new motherhood, working nights, and spending her days searching for stable housing. Every hour seemed to ask something more of her. Still, Nadia kept going. She stayed focused on one goal: creating a safe, steady future for her family. Then came the call that changed everything. Nadia had been accepted into transitional housing. That moment was not luck. It was the result of her persistence, her strength, and the kind of support that helps survivors keep moving when the path is steep. Because of donor support, DAWN can be there during these critical in-between moments: when someone is safe for tonight but still searching for what comes next. Shelter, advocacy, emotional support, and housing navigation can become the bridge between crisis and stability. Today, Nadia is one step closer to the future she has been working so hard to build. Your gift helps survivors and their families find safety, stability, and room to breathe. If you are experiencing abuse and trying to figure out what comes next, DAWN is here. You do not have to navigate it alone.

A big thank you to Windermere Real Estate/PSR, Inc. for investing part of their Community Service Day with DAWN for the third year in a row! 💜 Their team helped with multiple indoor and outdoor shelter cleanup projects, giving time and care to a space that supports survivors and families. Projects like this may seem simple, but they matter. A clean, cared-for environment helps make shelter feel safer, calmer, and more welcoming for domestic abuse survivors and their furry friends. We’re deeply grateful for community partners who show up, roll up their sleeves, and help care for DAWN in such practical and generous ways. #DAWN #WindermerePSR #CommunityServiceDay #SupportSurvivors #DomesticViolenceAwareness #VolunteerAppreciation #KingCounty #WindermereCSD

Service Spotlight: Confidential Emergency Shelter For a survivor in danger, safety is not just an idea. It can mean a locked door. A private room. A place their abuser cannot find. A place where their children can sleep. A place where their pet can come too. DAWN’s Confidential Emergency Shelter provides short-term, confidential housing for individuals and families experiencing intimate partner violence who are at high risk and need a safe place to go. Once at shelter, survivors are not left to figure everything out alone. DAWN advocates work alongside each person to create a care plan based on their needs, including safety planning, housing support, emotional support, and connection to resources that can help them move toward a life free from violence. For survivors: you deserve safety. You deserve privacy. You deserve support that meets you where you are. For supporters: your gift to DAWN helps make emergency shelter possible. It helps provide a safe room, trauma-informed advocacy, basic needs, pet-friendly accommodations, and the breathing space a survivor may need to take the next step.www.dawnrising.org To see if there is an opening for you or your family, call DAWN’s 24-Hr Advocacy & Support Line: 📞 425-656-7867 Everyone deserves a safe place to land.

Meet Ali and Verenise, DAWN’s shelter leadership duo. 💜 Ali serves as Shelter Operations Supervisor, and Verenise serves as Shelter Advocacy Supervisor. Together, they help lead the shelter through a co-leadership model that supports both the daily needs of shelter life and the advocacy needs of survivors and families. Shelter work is full of moving pieces, quiet moments, urgent needs, and deep care. Ali and Verenise bring steady leadership, collaboration, and heart to that work. We’re grateful for this dynamite duo and the way they show up for DAWN’s shelter community. #DAWN #TeamDAWN #ShelterLeadership #SupportSurvivors #DomesticViolenceAwareness

DAWN’s admin and operations team recently gathered for tea at Sweet Themes. 🫖💜 So much of survivor support depends on the work people may not always see: keeping things organized, coordinated, scheduled, stocked, answered, processed, and moving. DAWN leadership created this time as an opportunity for staff to pause, connect, and spend time together outside of the daily pace of the work. This team helps hold the structure that allows DAWN’s services to continue each day, and we’re grateful for the people who keep so much going behind the scenes. #DAWN #TeamDAWN #StaffAppreciation #NonprofitLife #SupportSurvivors
