We wanted to share these photographs from our Dawn of a New Day Benefit Breakfast.

This year’s featured speaker was David Martin, Senior Deputy Director King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and Chair of the Domestic Violence Unit.

We had a wonderful turnout and loved sharing all of the exciting changes going on at Dawn with all of our Donors, friends, and families.

Thank you for standing with us in our mission to save lives and create a more peaceful community for all.

Congratulations to John and Valerie Backus for receiving the Jennifer Politakis Hero Award, and to O. David Jackson for receiving the Terri Kimball Award.

The Jennifer Politakis Hero Award is awarded to a resident of South King County who goes above and beyond to develop and create healthy, safe, and welcoming environments for children and families in our communities. Someone who values and takes steps to prevent health and social problems in the first place.  Someone who builds on strengths, assets, and preferences of people and communities in order to create change, support wellness and recovery, and foster self-determination. Someone who works intentionally to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities. Someone who invests in the health and well-being of generations to come.

The Terri Kimball Award recognizes Terri’s ceaseless advocate for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. Terri considered everyone she met as a potential advocate for the cause. This award, given in Terri’s memory, goes to a volunteer that also dedicates themselves to the cause.
